Scrap My Car For Cash?
Surreys Scrap Car Collection answers your questions
Q. When should I scrap my car?
A. Any car that is beyond economical repair, fails an MOT test or is generally unfit for road use is classified as an ?end-of-life vehicle? and is suitable for scrapping.
Q. What should I do?
A. Call us now for a free collection, and we?ll take it to our Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) for de-pollution and recycling.
Q. What do I need?
A. Just your car and your V5 vehicle logbook which was given to you by the DVLA. Please have both ready when we come to collect.
Q. What is the V5 logbook for?
A. You need the logbook to transfer ownership over to the Trade for processing. We complete and sign Section 9, and once you are happy with the procedure, you should sign and send to the DVLA.
Q. Why do I need to do that?
A. If you don?t send the V5 to the DVLA, you will still be eligible for Road Tax payments as they will mistakenly believe that the car is still roadworthy.
Q. I can?t find my V5 logbook, what now?
A. Scrap Car Collection have a standard release form for you to complete. It is a simple declaration that you are surrendering ownership to us for scrapping purposes. We both keep a copy, and the DVLA are notified by our company.
Q. What if I don?t want to scrap my car quite just yet?
A. Fill out a Statutory Off-Road Notification (SORN) with the DVLA or Post Office (R). This will ensure that your end-of-life car is eligible for a Road Tax rebate, but you can?t use it on the roads ever again!
